Sneziey

Snenhlanhla Msomi, known professionally as Sneziey, is a South African gospel singer whose powerful voice first brought her national attention on Idols South Africa in 2019. Born and raised in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, Sneziey reached the final two of the show's fifteenth season, finishing as runner-up to Luyolo Yiba. Her success was notable because, while Idols largely centred on contemporary pop, Sneziey remained rooted in gospel and brought a strong spiritual quality to her performances.

Her musical journey began in childhood. Sneziey has recalled discovering her singing ability at around the age of seven and growing up singing in church. She later became involved in her school choir, developing the vocal confidence that would eventually take her to national television. Her grandmother has also been an important influence in her life, while her Christian faith remains central to both her identity and her music.

Following her Idols success, Sneziey signed with Gallo Music and began establishing herself as a solo gospel artist. Her first major single, Kungumusa, was released in 2019, with the title referring to God's grace. She followed this with her debut album Izulu in 2020. The album featured songs including Izulu, Ungubaba, Ngcwele, Siyabonga, Calvary and Forever. The title track received a South African Music Award nomination, marking an important early achievement in her recording career.

Sneziey's music combines contemporary gospel production with the traditions of South African worship music. She has also expressed an interest in incorporating jazz influences into her sound, while maintaining the spiritual message at its centre. In 2023 she released the EP Sibonga Umusa, followed by live performances and further recordings. Her more recent releases include Uyinqaba Yethu, Kuzohlatshelelwa and Sinomlilo. From a teenage choir singer to an Idols finalist and established gospel recording artist, Sneziey has built her career around faith, vocal strength and a distinctly South African approach to contemporary gospel.
