Nozipho Phiri

Nozipho Phiri is a South African gospel singer, worship leader and vocal coach whose heartfelt performances have established her as one of the country's most respected contemporary gospel voices. Born in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, she developed a passion for music from an early age, singing in church and community choirs before pursuing a professional career in gospel music. Her breakthrough came in 2010 when she reached the Top 10 of the television talent competition ‘I Want To Sing Gospel’, introducing her exceptional vocal ability to audiences across South Africa.

Following the competition, Phiri joined the acclaimed gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration, where she became both a lead and backing vocalist. Her stirring performances on songs such as Mayenzeke, Mukhulu Ujesu and Ngizokulandela earned her widespread recognition and cemented her reputation as a gifted worship minister. Through Joyous Celebration she shared the stage with many of South Africa's leading gospel artists, while also collaborating with respected musicians including Jabu Hlongwane, Ntokozo Mbambo, Nqubeko Mbatha, Sbu Noah, Ayanda Ntanzi, Xolly Mncwango and Collen Maluleke.

In 2024, after years of ministering through music, Phiri embarked on her solo career with the recording of her debut live album, a deeply personal project inspired by her faith and life's challenges. The album reflects themes of hope, restoration and unwavering trust in God, marking an important milestone in her artistic journey. Beyond performing, she remains committed to developing emerging talent through vocal coaching and mentoring worship leaders.

With a growing catalogue of solo work and an authentic ministry centred on faith, Phiri continues to inspire audiences across South Africa and is regarded as one of the most promising voices of the next generation of gospel music.
