Amy Tjasink is a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist from Cape Town whose versatile blend of pop, country and rock has earned her recognition as a highly distinctive independent artist. After spending several years performing aboard international cruise ships, where she was promoted to the role of musical director, she lived in London before returning to South Africa to pursue her own recording career. Her breakthrough came in 2019 when she reached the Top 7 on The Voice South Africa under the mentorship of the late Riky Rick, introducing her powerful vocals and heartfelt songwriting to a national audience.
Before appearing on The Voice SA, Tjasink had already released her debut EP Average Jane and later followed it with the independent album Simplify Me. She has since built a reputation for crafting melodic, emotionally honest songs that cross genre boundaries. Among her best-known releases are Game Over, featuring Jimmy Nevis, which reached number one on South African radio, Wake Me Up, Shadows of the Sun and Feels Like Mzansi, the latter a modern reimagining inspired by Mango Groove's classic Special Star. As a songwriter, she also co-wrote the theme song for the South African edition of Temptation Island, further showcasing her versatility beyond her own recordings.
In recent years, Tjasink has expanded her creative identity through her alternative rock project, Rebel B, allowing her to explore a darker, edgier musical style alongside her established pop sound. Away from the stage, she is also an entrepreneur and mentor, co-founding Pretty Loud, a female-focused recording studio and artist development hub dedicated to supporting emerging women in music. With an evolving catalogue and a reputation for authentic storytelling, Amy Tjasink continues to establish herself as one of South Africa's most dynamic independent recording artists.
